APRICOTS

Apricots are petite, round fruits with a velvety skin. The flesh of the apricot is juicy and sweet, with just a hint of tartness at the end. The flavour of apricots is often described as being between a peach and a plum. Select apricots that are golden orange in colour, plump and that are not too soft or too hard. Apricots that are ripe will have the best flavour, give them the taste test immediately!

Apricots are a good source of vitamins A and C, potassium, calcium, iron and beta-carotenes. The Casotti Group produces two popular varieties of apricots, the Golden Sweet and Golden May. These apricots are a deliciously sweet, light orange fruit best eaten fresh, but can also be baked into tarts and are also excellent for making into dried fruit.
